Supplier looks to in-house catalog design capability to help increase market awareness

Bloomington, Minn. (February 12, 2004) – Plumbing & Industrial Supply Company of Evansville, Indiana will use Catalog Builder® software from Computer Pundits Corporation to produce and maintain their catalogs in-house, making it possible for them to distribute catalogs with more frequency than ever before.

“We knew that if we could keep our name, products, and prices in front of our customers more often, they’d be more aware of the breadth of our product line and the competitiveness of our pricing,” stated P & I Supply Vice President, Carol Stephens. But, in the past P & I Supply outsourced its catalog production, meaning each catalog was a costly undertaking. “We either put out very infrequent 300-400 page bound catalogs or 1-page vendor co-oped flyers for shows and sales calls, but nothing in between,” Stephens explained.

Even though they outsourced their catalog production, they were still doing most of the work themselves. “We had to collect and format all the data. We were basically paying someone just to make our catalogs look pretty,” stated Stephens. So, P & I Supply decided to look for technology that would allow them to bring catalog production in-house, giving them flexibility and control over their catalog content, timing, and format.

“ We chose Catalog Builder because it’s user friendly and a good value,” explained Stephens. The Catalog Builder software suite from Computer Pundits Corporation makes it easy to build and maintain a catalog database that can be output in as many formats as needed, including paper, e-mail, PDF, CD-ROM and interactive web catalogs. It also allows the production of customer-specific or niche catalogs in just minutes.

Catalog Builder boasts tastefully designed templates and the ability to attach color pictures or drawings to each product entry, so P & I Supply will still be delivering professional looking catalogs. They’ll just be doing it at a fraction of the cost and a lot more often.
